台北雅思補習推薦:環境、氛圍、師資一次看
Since I plan to pursue a career that heavily involves English or study abroad in the future, I decided to spend the time between my final semester at university and the start of my military service preparing for the IELTS as proof of my English proficiency. Initially, I studied on my own and didn’t have much trouble with listening and reading. However, when it came to speaking and writing, I found it difficult to assess whether my answers met the IELTS scoring criteria. After careful consideration, I decided to seek help from a prep course.
After researching and attending trial lessons at several IELTS prep institutions, I ultimately chose the weekday evening IELTS Master Class offered by Stanley English for three main reasons.
1. The comfortable environment:
The facilities are modern, the classrooms are bright, and the lighting is excellent. The break area even provides snacks and drinks, and the study area has power outlets and Wi-Fi for student use—completely different from the typical cram schools that often feel dull and oppressive. Before the evening classes, I loved sitting there to review previous lessons, practice Cambridge IELTS questions on my laptop, or correct mistakes in my writing.
2. The professional teachers and staff:
The instructors, all of whom have backgrounds as IELTS examiners, provided clear insights into the scoring criteria for speaking and writing through extensive practice. They also gave constructive feedback and useful exam tips, helping students make steady progress over time. In addition to following the well-structured curriculum, the teachers often incorporated fun English games that helped us absorb and flexibly use a variety of vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structures. The administrative and support staff were also attentive, offering detailed course information before classes and checking in on our progress and exam performance throughout, which made the experience feel warm and supportive.
3. The positive learning atmosphere:
The school created an immersive English-speaking environment, similar to that of language schools abroad, encouraging students to speak in English as much as possible. This naturally improved my speaking skills.
I’m incredibly grateful to my two experienced teachers, Alex and Francis. In addition to teaching us IELTS strategies, they often chatted with us about everyday life and future study plans abroad. Alex’s vocabulary bingo game and timed writing practice in every class helped students confidently produce grammatically correct and precise essays. In Francis’s speaking classes, he introduced various IELTS speaking questions from different topics each time, helping students expand their vocabulary in unfamiliar areas and become more comfortable speaking English for extended periods. This significantly reduced my anxiety during the actual speaking test.
In the end, I scored even better than I expected, with an overall band score of 8, including a perfect 9 in listening and reading, and a solid 7 in writing. Throughout this journey with Stanley English, I realized that while exam techniques can help, the key to success is improving your overall English skills, which is essential for living abroad. This is also the philosophy at the core of Stanley English’s teaching. Unlike traditional cram schools in Taiwan that often focus on short-term intensive study to pass exams through tips and tricks, Stanley English encourages students to build a strong foundation step by step, preparing them for future study in English-speaking countries. Consequently, I highly recommend Stanley English.
